Frequently asked questions
Is the service free?
Yes. Students never pay, and volunteers are not paid. Please never ask for or offer money through the platform; report anyone who does.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone aged 18 or over who can read and write clearly in the exam language and is willing to follow the exam rules. Some exams need the scribe to have a lower qualification than the student, so we ask for your education level.
How are volunteers verified?
Volunteers upload an ID document. Only the admin team can view it, and it is used only to verify the volunteer. Verified volunteers get a green badge.
When do I see the other person's phone number?
Only after the student confirms a volunteer. Until then, volunteers see just the student's first name, city and exam details.
What if my volunteer cannot come?
The volunteer can withdraw from the request in the app. It reopens immediately and matching volunteers are notified again. If the exam is close, it is marked urgent and the admin team helps.
Can someone request on my behalf?
Yes. Organizations such as NGOs, schools and colleges can register and create requests for students.
What does "urgent" mean?
A request for an exam due within 48 hours. Matching volunteers are notified at once and the admin team is alerted.
Can I use the site with a screen reader?
Yes. The site is built with semantic HTML, labelled forms, keyboard navigation, large text, a high-contrast mode, read-aloud and voice input for text fields.
What if something goes wrong?
Use the "Report a problem" form on the request page or contact us. Reports are reviewed by the admin team and accounts can be suspended.
Does the platform guarantee a scribe?
We cannot guarantee it, but we notify every suitable volunteer and the admin team follows up on open requests. Request as early as possible, ideally two weeks before the exam.
